Camelbak botlte plastic “7″ bad for you?
Okay so i’ve read that the plastic in camelbak bottles (which are BPA free) have like..bis..phenol- A which is bad for you as well, because the plastic is “7″ plastic (i looked on the bottom of the bottle, the arrow does point to 7). I read online that that just may mean it’s a miscellaneous plastic category, and that it doesnt mean anything. Anyway, i bought a new bottle for my mother and her bottle has a sticker on it that says “new material— BPA, bisphenol-A free” and the plastic symbol on the bottom says its plastic 4. Does that mean that the plastic 7 was really that dangerous? Should i buy a new one? Please don’t tell me to buy a sigg bottle i like looking at how much water i have left and not knocking my teeth against metal.
The jury is still out on #7, but the fact that they’re out makes me not want to use them whenever possible. I just use a regular old #2 plastic bottle that the orange juice came in. I fill it about 1/4 full, and freeze it. Then put water in daily. Once a week, I rinse it with soap and water to keep it clean. You can also buy a bottle of Aqua-Fina or something, and just reuse the bottle when you’re finished. No metal banging against your teeth there.
