What were the events that led up to the Jews getting out of the concentration camps?
Like, how did the Jews get out of the concentration camps to finally be free and build families?
They didn’t get out. Six million perished. When the Allies finally liberated the camps, they found some Jews were still alive – but many of these died when the Allies tried to help by feeding them. Their bodies couldn’t cope with digesting food after they’d been starved and abused for so long.
And remember that even after the camps were shut down and some Jews were freed, where could they go? Many of them had no family left at all, and couldn’t bear to stay in Europe. They tried to join all the Jews that were already living in Palestine – only to find the British refusing to let them in, and the Arabs terrorising the Palestinian Jews left, right and centre.
If you like reading, I recommend the novel ‘Exodus’ by Leon Uris. It describes what happened after the Holocaust, and is a really powerful and moving read.
