Are metal-framed tents safe from lightning?
I’m going camping in a metal-framed tent with canvas that goes over the frame and wood flooring that is supported by the tent frame. I was just wondering if it would be save to stay in the tent during a lightning storm.

No, but then neither are they necessarily any more prone to lightning strikes. My wife and I are Civil War reenactors, so we spend several weekends a year camping in a sturdy canvas and wood frame tent. I have weathered a number of thunderstorms in a metal-framed tent in campgrounds with dozens of people in metal-framed tents. And although it does occasionally happen, I have personally never seen one of those tent struck by lightning. I wouldn’t sweat it…I’d be more concerned about high wind and torrential rainfall.
