What is the purpose of a tactical mask (ski mask) in combat?
Armed forces are often portrayed in entertainment wearing tactical masks or balaclavas. What purpose does this serve? Are masks frequently used in real situations, or is this simply a Hollywood fabrication?
IF they are used they are generally used for identity protection (see Iraqi national interpreters accompanying US troops on TV) or for flash protection…just like firefighters wear to protect from powder burns from close rifle fire or explosives…
