Suppose you have a flashlight that takes four ideal 1.5 V batteries. If the resistance of the bulb is 16 ohms, what is the current through the bulb when the flashlight is turned on? The fact that the batteries are stacked end to end means they are wired in series.
You need Ohm’s law for this: V=IR potential{voltage}difference=current x resistance
In series, the voltages of the batteries will simply add, so total voltage is 6V.
Rearrange to find I = V/R.
so: I = 6V/16ohms fun!
