found a caterpiller outside and want to observe it’s growth cycles-put it into a 5 gallon tank -what next?
It’s a smooth black caterpillar with orange verticle stripes.We put various leaves in the tank.Do we just sit back and watch or is there more to it than that?Is there enough moisture in the leaves for hydration?What about light?Any advice would be great-my 3 kids are excited!!
I think you have done enough. When adding I have always used moist grass. If they were found on the leaves you are using that is fine. You will soon see if they are eating or not by looking for holes. Cover with some Glad wrap and use a fork to create ventilation holes, you don’t want the little critters escaping.
