What, exactly, is the chlorine used to clean a water filter?
I have a Katadyn Vario water filter for backpacking and camping. We worked the Last year very well, but I saved it and have not used it since. Never properly stored, so now is a sort of gross. I clean before further use. The instruction manual says to run two tbspns bleach (mixed with much water) through it … it is to kill the germs of others? What Exactly Is Chlorine? I am using laundry bleach? That's a bit rough. Where I can buy chlorine, such a small amount (I never use the things) I can take care of my water filter and any surplus can only be used to disinfect the sink or something?
