I need instructions to build a shoji lantern/lamp? help?
I need help on how to make a shoji lamp, I’m attempting to make them for my night stand…any ideas???
Build a frame using small dowels to build the lampshade. I’d use small finishing nails to attach the dowels. Get rice paper at an arts supplies store and glue to frame – I’d use one of those rotating cutters for quilting rather than scissors for a clean straight line. Get a lamp kit about anywhere and wire your chosen base – I’d get a large dowel and cut to about 12″ to 18″ – and a square block for a base.
I love Japanese lamps – get a book on Japanese House decorating a find a ton of inspiration.
