Can guinea pigs have nuts if they are broken up in to small pieces?
Hello, I would like to know if guinea pigs can have nuts, if they are broken up in to non-choking pieces, specifically Hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, and almonds. My guinea pig will not choke so please do not say that they are a choking hazard she has swallowed a sticker, a pencil led, and a button and she is still alive happy and healthy today. Please answer!!!
Guinea pigs can have them as a rare treat as long as they are unsalted. It is not recommended by many veterinarians/breeders because they provide a lot of fat to the diet. If you do give her a nut, please watch her carefully just in case as I lost a guinea pig to choking and would hate for you to have the same thing happen.
