What is the lowest increase would have to make clear the rings of Saturn?
I will treat myself to a pair of binoculars. I've seen some seeks to expand decent binoculars (zoom containers are not as good as the fixed mag) ranging from 10 to 100 times enlargement and 50 to 100 mm aperature. Most of the time I'd probably use the lowest power to look at fields of stars and galaxies, etc, etc, but I want to push them on a tripod and use on Jupiter and Saturn, from time to time. Therefore, I would like to know what the expansion would be able to see rings around Saturn? No need to be doing the splits in the rings or anything like that. I'm sure I read somewhere a while ago that could at 40x? That sound a bit low for me? Not sure! Thanks in advance for your answers!
Used to have a 60 mm refractor telescope with two lenses, one 12 mm and one of 4.5 mm. To 4.5 gave me a power of 155X and rings were visible, but it is not clear. To 12 mm could see the fine rings and I think the power was 60x.
