Doppler Effect and Interference?
1. You are on the lamb from the cops. You are hiding in some bushes with state troopers in police cruisers with sirens blaring. When should you break from your cover to try to make and escape, when the frequency (pitch) of the sirens is increasing, or decreasing? Why did you gamble your freedom on this choice?
2. In Europe, many old bridges have signs demanding that if a group marches over it they do not march in step. Why is this demand made?
3. A galaxy emits a characteristic photon of light at a wavelength of 750nm, how fast is that galaxy moving relative to the earth?
4. What does it mean for two waves to interfere with one another?

1. when it is decreasing….when f is decreasing, the vehicle is moving away from u….refer to the doppler effect diagram to get the idea…
2. coz when all march together simultaneously, they force the bridge’s molecules to vibrate…we call this forced vibrations…when done long enough, the bridge might vibrate at its natural/resonant freq, thus causing the bridge to collapse….

4. interfere means that the waves share the same place at the same time, or overlapping…
