Need help re: how to remove a jar of C & C 1985 Mark III in order to secure the cable disconnected.?
1) With the ship in the crib rail marine, have been the pivot pin has a plate welded on one side and a nut and 3 washers in the other. I assumed that when relaunched the keel boat would leave for recovery by a diver. However, the board changes smoothly, as if all the hardware was removed in place. Any idea why? 2) To re-connect the cable from the keel again my plan is to deal first with two divers and a fish to pull new cable from the bottom up and lifting keel in place with the boat in the water. Otherwise, I would go to option (expensive) to hire a local travel lift and complete the reinstallation of the hard disk. Any ideas on how best to reinstall?
Just a guess, but there could be a sleeve or cap of the pivot pin / bolt passes through. The CB would turn on even w / pin. Replace pin and hardware if you have'nt already done so before attempting to replace the cable. Swing keel centerboard cables usually have an accessory like a tourniquet fork end to connect to the keel. Check whether the replacement cable has the proper connection. Apart from that, the idea of fishing a new cable should work fine as long as you can avoid kinking when to take up the slack in the winch.
