Why is it that a military police officer has no cross over validations from their civilian sponsored training?
If I took an oath to protect this country, then why am I not considered a sworn officer? As a military police officer, I was trained by the civilian academies, certified to operate with in the states and enforce the states laws. Why then am I NOT given credit for the training that I have worked my ASS off to obtain?
Many of us officers were previous military guys. On top of the answers already provided I think there is one big difference and that is civil liability. As an MP you have little to no risk of being sued. That is a massive consideration for civilian law enforcement, which is along with safety, one of major driving forces behind training and policy.
