What makes a police bike different from other types of bicycles?

A bike police will have the top of the line components. Example: SRAM PG830 11-32, 8 speed cassette better than a cheaper freewheel 7 speeds. The Trek has a RockShox front suspension. Much better than anything found on discount store bikes. You can find these parts in other Trek bikes, too. There has to be a police motorcycle. But the police need a bike you can depend on and that will last. I think we will go to K-Mart for a bicycle?
