Can too large of an air intake be bad for a car?
I’m replacing the air intake in my car. It’s a 4dr sedan Kia. It’s pretty lightweight. There’s no other engine mods or anything, this is just the first step. There’s a good amount of room for a new air intake cone filter.. I’m wondering if there can be any negative effects of having too large an intake when the car doesn’t require it?

No. Basically because the computer in your car monitors the amount of air that goes past your MAS (mass airflow sensor). This limits the amount allowed to go to the combustion chamber. Although, a bigger than normal intake can make a car sound weird, it will ultimately do nothing because of the computer. It’s better to have more air than not enough….
