Hyundai Motor Company is the world’s fourth largest automaker, manufacturing all segments of passenger vehicles. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is a wholly owned Indian subsidiary which is considered as the second largest car manufacturer in the country. At present, there are more than 30 variants of passenger cars distributed among six segments in the car market.
Hyundai Santro is the hatchback segment in small cars which received an unexpected response globally. It is available with a 1.1 litre, SOHC equipped with 1086cc petrol engine and 4 cylinders to produces highest power of 63 Ps @5500 rpm. It develops highest torque at 3000 rpm with 9.8 kgm/96 Nm. Its powertrain is assisted by a five speed manual transmission.
Its interiors and exteriors provide a luxury feeling because to its dual tone interiors and contemporary dash boards. It is operated on three dynamic systems – Differentially Programmed Intelligent Injection and Rotary Head Intelligent Valve to ensure high fuel distribution inside engine to result for better power and mileage.
The other system i.e. Real Time Intelligent Ignition guarantees perfect time for ignition of the air mixture and fuel for higher power, low emissions and high mileage. With such combined efforts, the Hyundai Santro gives a mileage of 13.7 kmpl in city limits and 17.8 kmpl on highways.
The safety provisions include new immobilizer, central locking, front and rear seat belts, child safety locks and many more. It is priced between Rs 2, 75,686 – Rs 3, 92,538
After the massive success of Hyundai Santro, the company launched Hyundai i10 in the same premium hatchback segment that gained much popularity in Indian car market.
It comes loaded with two variants of petrol engines- 1.1 IRDE2 and 1.2 Kappa2.The 1.1 IRDE2 is available in three variants that include D-Lite, Magna and Era. This engine produces maximum power of 66.7PS at 5500rpm and produces maximum torque of 10.1kgm at 2500rpm.
The Hyundai i10 1.2 Kappa2 engine comes with five variants that include Magna 1.2, Asta, Asta (0) AT, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Sportz AT .Theses variants produces maximum power of 80PS at 5200rpm and maximum torque of 11.4kgm at 4000rpm.
It features ABS, EBD and many other safety features by which it earned high scores on the Euro NCAP crash tests. Its variants are priced between Rs 3, 48, 795 – Rs 5, 90,592.
In order to compete with major SUVs manufacturers, Hyundai has come up with its much acclaimed SUV, Hyundai Santa Fe which is introduced in two trims: 2wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. It is equipped with only CRDI diesel engine with 2.2 L and displacement of 2199cc.
Its fuel supply system, CRDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) serves better fuel efficiency and high performance. The car has 6 speed manual gearboxes and Hyundai Santa Fe’s Euro V engine is endowed with 16 valves with DOHC (Double Over Head Camshafts) and 4 cylinders that will offer better torque and clear emission.
Some of its safety features include ABS with EBD technology, 6 Airbags, active headrest, cruise control, immobilizer, ESP, rollover sensor, parking sensor, child locks, central door locking etc. It is priced between Rs 20, 95,000 – Rs 22, 95,000.
