Why has there been a sharp decline in the number of Yiddish-speaking Ashkenazim?
What led to the decline in use the yiddish? I find it strange that even all these Jewish immigrants from Russia were not fluent in Russian and Yiddish? I know most of the dead of the Holocaust but why is that the survivors left to speak in Yiddish, even in the U.S. they all speak English, for some reason. And in Russia, they all speak Russian. Why Why?
They speak Russian in Russia (mainly), why do not you speak? Yiddish is a non-territorial language (Yiddish is German like the afrikaans is Dutch), but it has official status in Sweden. I think the fact that there is no specific place where it is spoken has a lot to do with the decline in its use.
