How do you know what size tarp to buy for over your tent?
I have a 10′x12′ tent and I am trying to buy a tarp to go over it to protect it from the rain and sun. I am not sure how much larger I should go. Please help 
Well obviously the smallest tarp you want is 12′x12′. I`d say go with at least a 15′x15′ tarp. If the tent is decent and has a good fly you shouldnt need a tarp. but personally if you really need it go with a 20′x20′ this way you have a small place to sit under and stay dry. Sort of like a porch area.
There is no need to do all that math and measuring, you know the tent is 10′x12′ thats all you need, you`re not having a custom tarp created.
