Water born bacteria VS. Micro Filter vs. Water Purifier …?
I am embarking on a long camping trip in the mountains of South America. The Most of the time will depend on natural water sources for my livelihood. My question is regarding filters and water purifiers. I recently bought two for my trip. The micro-filter that removes states as 0.3 microns. I guess that covers bacteria, cysts, etc. Leaving the virus only apparent difference be? Yes, that is the case I'm not a biologist, when you know it was safe to use only the filter and when to use the cleaner? And if the purifier is the only thing capable of 99.999% to provide potable water unquestionable. Why would someone or a microfilter? … Thanks in advance to all who responded!
I personally suggest two possible alternatives: 1. Boil the water, which kills ALL bacteria and germs in the water. 2. iodine tablets, which also kill ALL bacteria and germs in the water. Also, does not indicate so low that the purifier is said to be filtered. If less than 0.3 microns in use. What with these filters is that less and less effective the more you use. The packages usually say change after so many uses. Perhaps the smaller filters are more expensive, so some people choose to 0.3 microns in size rather than small because no you can afford, or do not think they will get nothing. On the other hand, most people would use it in a lake or river, and not in South America. People think that other countries and continents are dirtier than yours, so do not opt for more expensive things sometimes.
